Can’t wait for prime week next month. We get to work 60 hours (normally 29 because Amazon doesn’t care about its employees having a living wage), and I’ve been wanting a Paperwhite.
I suspect it has more to do with the ill-conceived (and now gradually imploding) Obamacare mandate requiring employers to provide health care coverage to employees working an average of 30 hours or more per week than not caring about you having a ‘living wage’ (whatever that is…)
Are you indentured to Amazon or something? If you’re so dissatisfied with the terms of your employment there then find a job that will pay you the ‘living wage’ to which you obviously feel you are entitled. After all, the same people that brought us Obamacare (if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor, remember…) have been telling us for years now that the unemployment rate is below 5% so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding another job.
You might be right about the health insurance angle, but a company like Amazon needs to have excess capacity because orders don’t come in equally through the year.
