The Samsung Chromebook Pro and Chromebook Plus are nearly identical laptops with 12.3 inch, 2400 x 1600 pixel toucshcreen displays, 360-degree hinges, and Samsung pens for writing or drawing.
Both weigh about 2.4 pounds and measure about half an inch thick. And both have 4GB of RAM. But the Pro has an Intel processor and 64GB of storage, while the Plus has a Rockchip OP1 (RK3399) processor and 32GB of storage, which explains why the latter is usually more affordable.
Right now Best Buy is selling both at considerable discounts, with the Chromebook Pro going for $499 and the Chromebook Plus selling for $430.
If you’re looking for a cheaper option (albeit with a lower-resolution display and no pen), Amazon also has some pretty good prices on the Asus Chromebook Flip and Acer R11 Chromebook at the moment.

My wife got me the 64GB Pro for Christmas and I really love it. I was looking at it to replace my aging Pixel C. Used Crouton to install Ubuntu. Really enjoying it.
there is a microSD card slot to add more memory. You really don’t need a lot of space for most Chromebook uses.I paid full price for my Pro. I’m a little surprised that the best you can do is $50 off at this point.
This is the 64GB Pro, so it is $100 off. The 32GB was was $549, but was phased out for the 64GB model.
That’s just a workaround, and “most uses” arguments don’t always fly. I have no need for storing TBs of data on my Windows machines, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t uses for TB drives.
Also, I love microSD cards, but they are a workaround. About the only time they are superior is with smartphones, allowing you to quickly and easily move your music from one phone to another. Or maybe if you have security concerns, such as wanting to get a device through customs without the data being so accessible. Conversely though, if the card could easily fall out the security concern might be greater if unencrypted.
The point is though, more is better. It’s really hard to argue that less is better when it comes to storage. More can be too expensive, but $50 is too.
The more expensive Chromebook would be worth it just for the memory. I wonder how many people buy the other one?
I wanted to like the plus but I ultimately couldn’t justify the price and wound up buying a fire tablet 10 instead
Well, there’s that too. The prices do seem high. I was just focusing on the difference in cost between the two models.
