The HP Stream 13 is a low-cost, portable notebook with a 13 inch display, an Intel Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage. It has a fanless design, runs Windows 8.1, and normally sells for $229.
But right now the Microsoft Store is selling the laptop for $199. Plus you get a $25 gift card to spend on content from the Windows Store when you buy one.
Sure, the HP Stream 13 isn’t going to win any awards for performance, but it’s a Windows laptop with a Chromebook-like price.

I posted this on last week’s thread, but since I consider this a heck of a deal, I’ll post it again. Vizio 42″ soundbar with wireless sub and surrounds for $199 (or $189 for Prime members). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CDIK908/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1ZQVH7C6AEAPP&coliid=I1Q5RWEVS7GOWO&psc=1
They’d have to pay me! $199, to go back to a TN panel.
The Stream 13 looks interesting, but not as a windows machine. I think it would pair well with a lightweight linux distro. The only question I have is how easy it would be to replace the OS entirely? At $200 it is pretty cheap, but not cheap enough to simply risk a machine that won’t work.
How does the N2840 of the Stream 13 compare with something like Z3740 for browsing/email like tasks?
This is a laptop
So? What’s your point? I’m looking to compare performance of the two CPUs. Btw, the Asus X205 is a laptop too but it has a Z3735D.
That’s a laptop too.
I suspect either would be fine for such use, but that you’d probably get better battery life, or be able to get a lighter unit with a smaller battery, with the Z3740.
