The Asus EeeBook X205 is a notebook with an 11.6 inch display, an Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Windows 8.1 software.

It’s hardly the most powerful Windows laptop on the market, but it’s certainly one of the cheapest. The EeeBook X205 has a list price of $199 and at least one store plans to offer it for half that price on Black Friday.

But you don’t have to wait until then to score an amazing deal on this inexpensive 2.1 pound notebook. Best Buy is selling the EeeBook X205 for $140 today only.

Update: Amazon is selling the notebook for the same price.

  1. I got it a couple weeks ago at $179. At $139, everybody should get one. But, here’s why it hasn’t replaced my C710: the build. Not that it isn’t well built; it’s a very precisely built thin machine with a brushed aluminum style finish. Problem is, it’s not made out of aluminum, it’s plastic, flexy, and will quickly develop eyesores with use. Day I got it, I was eating pepperoni pizza, and as others have noted, the finish is a fingerprint magnet; ended up cleaning the thing with windex and putting it back in the fancy box. As for the C710, I’ve got toothpaste spatter on it, don’t care. The C710 is a lot less flexy and the keyboard has more throw and feedback.

  2. The Asus netbook is now back to regular price at both Amazon and Best Buy. So that was a one day only event. I wonder what else will pop up?

  3. They said this was better than hp stream 11 in reviews. It had better keyboard, touchpad, and build quality.. The thing about the stream 11 is you get office 365 personal for free ($70 value) and a $25 windows store gift card. Walmart will sell it with $25 walmart gift card on black friday so if you buy it then it would basically cost $80 since you get $120 in free stuff….
But if you plan on buying office 365 for family to have 5 computers anyway then asus would probably be better deal.

    1. Edit: Removed my rant on how wrong Patstar5 was, I misread the first sentence.

Best Buy and Amazon have it at the same price: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OBA5AZU

I agree with bearKing, that “free” stuff doesn’t doesn’t sway me one bit, Asus has a solid entry anyway you look at it.

    2. just because theyre giving you free stuff doesnt make the laptop any cheaper.. and from the reviews i’ve been reading, and my personal experience with Asus products, i believe this laptop will be superior.
I’ve been looking at 365, and the only thing that seems to make it worth anything is the cloud storage..

  4. Note that Bestbuy has a regular price of $179 on the x205 … which is $20 cheaper than Amazon has been selling it for. Microsoft store has also been selling it for $179 regularly.

    1. Thanks for the info. I need to pay closer attention to brick and morter stores.

      1. also the one from the Microsoft store comes with their “signature edition” which is Junk Ware free. no stupid 30 day program trials taking up space on the already very limited harddrive, just a clean windows install.
