It’s March 14th, also known as Pi Day because someone decided that would be a cute thing for a date that’s written as 3/14 in the United States (even though most of the world considers today to be 14/3).
Anyway, retailers have sort of hopped on the bandwagon in recent years, and a number of stores including Dell, Lenovo, the Microsoft Store, and ThinkGeek are running Pi Day sales today with discounts of up to 31 percent off some items.
Meanwhile Barnes & Noble is offering one of the best deals I’ve seen to date on an Android tablet. Having nothing to do with Pi Day as far as I can tell, the company’s 7 inch Android tablet is on sale for $30 today.
That’s $20 off the usual price for a table with similar specs to an entry-level Amazon Fire tablet… but which ships with the Google Play Store pre-installed.
Here are some of the day’s best deals.

The older 8GB Nook tablet is being offered at $30. The newer 16GB tablet is $49 (normal price). I think that its worth it to get the 16GB version.
Definitely avoid the $30 old 8GB version. It barely has enough space for the Android 6.0 operating system and updates to pre-installed apps. It might work for reading books with the built-in apps but don’t expect to install any other apps even if you use a micro SD card for them. I wish tablets had separate memory for the OS and apps and had to advertise how much free space is available so the buyer could know whether a tablet is useless or not.
Thanks for clarifying. I had seen both prices and was confused.
