Google’s Pixel 6a is coming in July for $449. But you know what you can get for $449 right now? a Google Pixel 5. The previous-gen flagship doesn’t quite have the same processing power as the Pixel 6a, but it’s got the same cameras and more RAM. And it’s just one of several Pixel phones that are on sale today at Wooot.

Meanwhile Lenovo’s ThinkPad X12 tablet is a 2-in-1 computer with an Intel Tiger Lake processor that sold for $1149 and up when it launched last year, but right now Lenovo is selling models for as little as $759.

What is Woot, why is it “an Amazon company” and what is “new condition”? Are these phones really brand new?
Woot was a gimmick store that used to offer a deal on one random item per day. The company behind it sold the store to amazon, now it offers more random stuff per day. The company behind it later created meh.com, which sells one random thing per day.
If it seems silly, I guess it largely works because of the forums.
No idea how new “new” really is in this case. But it seems pretty often that more phones of a given model are made than can be sold to people who want the latest devices, so the new old stock gradually decreases in price until, for example, you could get a new, in box LGV20 for $150 on ebay in 2020, and then the last of it gets slurped up by cheap people.
I’d buy the Pixel 6a over the Pixel 5 without even a second thought.
Why?
It will get updates for far longer. The Pixel 5 is dying next year.

Exactly right. Nowadays I refuse to buy a phone with anything less than 5 years of security updates support.
So which iPhone did you decide on? Or is there now an Android phone manufacturer that not only announces 5+ years of support, but actually honors that support promise? I haven’t heard of one.
My Pixel 3 stopped getting updates recently. I was going to keep it while longer anyway, but now the case is coming apart at the seams. I think maybe the battery is swollen, but at any rate, I’ve discontinued use of the phone. I just think it’s funny that it physically fell apart right after it stopped getting updates.
