It’s not hard to find a portable power bank that you can use to charge your phone or tablet on the go. Some newer models are also powerful enough to work with laptops that support USB-C power delivery.
Have a laptop with a proprietary charger? That’s where power banks with AC outlets come in handy. They’re usually pretty expensive, but right now RAVPower is selling a 30,000 mAh power bank with a 100W AC outlet (plus a few USB ports) for just $86.
Here are some of the day’s best deals.

That outlet is convenient, but what you are doing is you store power in the 3.7-4.2V LiIon cells, then convert that to 110-230V AC then you plug in the charger that makes that 12-20V DC to charge a 3.7-4.2V LiIon cell that operates a 1.8/3.3/5V device… I did not do full calculations, but effectively well over 50% of power wasted on conversion.
I don’t know why someone would charge a small electronic device (phone or tablet) charged via a usb cable using the 110V AC outlet, seems wildly wasteful versus just using one of the usb ports on the battery pack. However, the AC outlet is rated for 100W. I know the 115W AC outlet in my car works good for small electronics like an air pump for an air mattress, I would assume this battery pack could do the same. If so, I think it’s a very valuable addition. I’m considering one just for powering small 110V AC electronics on camping trips.
Just a heads-up to those interested in the Ravpower unit… it is available on Amazon, too, for only $5 more with a click-to-apply coupon. If you prefer Amazon for easy of handling, returns, etc, this is still a winning price!
