Chinese device maker Cube launched a dual OS tablet called the Cube i6 Air 3G earlier this year. It runs both Android and Windows, has a high-resolution display, features surprisingly strong performance, and a relatively low price tag: you can buy the Cube i6 Air 3G for under $200.

I was pretty impressed with the tablet I reviewed recently. But I didn’t end up testing its 3G capabilities because I didn’t have much use for a tablet with support for Chinese 3G network connectivity.

Now Cube is launching a WiFi-only model that’s even cheaper. The Cube i6 Air is up for pre-order in China for 899 Yuan, which is about $145 US.

Like the 3G model, the Cube i6 Air features a 9.7 inch, 2048 x 1536 pixel display, an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a microSD card slot.

The tablet ships with both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 software installed. To switch from Android to Windows, just tap the “OS Switch” tile in the Quick Settings pull-down menu. To switch from Windows to Android, tap the InsydeQ2S shortcut.

You’ll have to wait a minute or two for the tablet to reboot before you can start using the alternate operating system, which means you probably won’t find yourself flipping between OS options as quickly as you might normally flip through apps. But it’s nice to have the option to run Windows software that might not be available for Android and vice versa without buying two separate tablets.

    1. Easy. I have the older version of this. I’ve rooted two with no problem.

  1. I just wish all of these dual boot tablets were 64GB or more. 32GB is painful if you actually want to use one of these things.

    1. Adding 32GB would cost them some 12 extra $ and that’s a lot given the retail price but some do have 64GB versions.

  2. 150$ is way too much, for 150$ you can buy a leather strap for the Apple Watch instead , or an awesome 7 inch ,really low end Samsung tab.

      1. Yes when using Windows. Just download iTunes and it’s good to go.
