At first glance the CTL NL6x Chromebook looks a lot like other laptops with Chrome OS. It has an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Celeron N2940 processor, and 16GB of storage. But there are a few things that help set this $269 model apart.
First, it’s one of a few Chromebooks to feature 4GB of RAM. Second, it has a rugged case. And third, the price includes 1 year of accidental damage protection coverage.
CTL says the notebook has a pressure-resistant cover that’s sturdy enough to let you stand on the notebook (it’s been tested for up to 365 pounds). The cover also serves double-duty as an erasable white board.
The notebook also has a water-resistant keyboard, anti-peel keys, and reinforced ports, hinges, and power plug ports. It’s been drop tested for falls of up to 2.3 feet.
So CTL figures most users won’t need to take advantage of the accidental damage warranty that you get when you purchase the laptop. But it’s a nice bonus feature for the accident-prone (or cautious).
CTL typically targets the education market, but like most of the company’s laptops, anyone can buy the NL6x from the CTL website.
