Coby is getting ready to launch a new 10 inch tablet with an Amlogic AML8726-MX dual core processor. It’s called the Coby Kyros MID1060, and while it’s not showing up on the Coby website yet, the tablet did pass through the FCC this week.

Coby Kyros MID1060

The Coby Kyros MID1060 features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, 1GB of storage, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, a mini HDMI port, microUSB port, and a built-in mic, a speaker, and camers on the front and back of the tablet.

Like Coby’s other recent tablets, the MID1060  runs Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software.

The Amlogic AM8726 processor is the same chip used in the Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 and G-Box Dyno devices I’ve tested recently. It’s not exactly a blazing-fast chip, but it provides better performance than many of the low-cost, low-power chips used in earlier Coby tablets.

There’s no word on when the Coby Kyros MID1060 will be available or how much it will cost, but Coby is known for offering inexpensive tablets, so I’d be surprised if this model cost more than $250.

  1. Terriible tab. Do not buy it. Been using it now and there’s no google play store and the touch screen is very tacky, hard to tap. Not as slick as samsung or apple, very terrible. Will not recommend.
