The AsusPro B9440 is a 14 inch notebook that weighs just about 2.3 pounds, making it one of a number of thin and light laptops on display at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.

Asus is positioning this model as a business laptop, and it has a magnesium alloy body, a spill-resistant keyboard, and a fingerprint reader.

The laptop will be available in May for $999 and up, but I got a chance to check one out at CES.

The notebook has an unusual design, with the bottom of the lid extending down below the base when the laptop is open. But it gives the keyboard a comfortable slant while keeping the overall profile of the B9440 pretty slim.

While there are only two USB Type-C ports on the notebook itself, Asus offers an optional USB docking station with a bunch of ports, including dual DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, and USB 3.0, USB Type-C, and an SD card reader.

Of course, if you don’t feel like lugging a dock around with you, then you’re still stuck with a laptop that has only two ports. If that’s good enough, then this 2.3 pound laptop really does feel more like an ultraportable 13 inch model than a typical 14 inch notebook. But if you often use Ethernet, HDMI, or SD cards on the go, then you’re going to need carry around a dock or adapter.

Asus says the laptop will be available with up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of solid state storage, and up to a Core i7 Kaby Lake processor. It has a 1920 x 1080 pixel display.
