Toshiba has been showing off a range of new tablets recently, including the super-thin Toshiba Excite X10, a 7 inch Thrive tablet, a 7.7 inch prototype, and a range of other devices with unusual screen sizes.
But you know what Toshiba hasn’t officially announced? A 7 inch tablet with a Freescale processor. But that’s just what the folks at Notebook Italia found one on sale in Italy.
The Toshiba LT170 appears to have a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1 GHz Freescale i.MX53 ARCM Cortex-A8 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.
It’s not exactly a top-of-the-line device, and ships with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread instead of a newer, more tablet-friendly version of Google’s mobile operating system. On the bright side, the LT170 does include the Android Market/Google Play Store, something which you can’t always take for granted on tablets running Android 2.3 or earlier.
But the tablet is light, weighing just about 0.86 pounds. It’s also not ridiculously expensive (by European standards), at 299 Euros. But you can probably find something with a faster processor or higher resolution screen for the same price or less.
