BlueStacks, a program that allows you to use Android apps on a PC or Mac has received a major overhaul. BlueStacks 2 features multitasking capabilities, allowing you to open and run multiple apps at once.
Apps are displayed as web browser-like tabs that you can click on to switch between, so you can keep Messenger open while playing Clash of Clans, and then download Candy Crush onto your PC, all at the same time.
The free update is available at BlueStacks.com
The program has a few user interface updates as well. In version 2, users can access customizable functions, like setting a location, shaking the screen (for apps that use the gesture on mobile devices), adjusting the volume, and more. Full Screen mode allows you to hide the game tab and tool bar.
The company behind the mobile-to-desktop program is also celebrating a milestone. BlueStacks has been downloaded more than 100 million times. The company does not disclose how often the program is used after being downloaded, but 100 million downloads is nothing to sneeze at.
The mobile game portal has been available on PC for years. This past summer, BlueStacks was updated with support for Mac computers. However, version 2 is still not available for OS X. It is possible that the company will roll out support next year.
Excellent program. They have competition now from Droid4X that, I think, is using more cores of my Phenom II X6 compared to Bluestacks, but probably this new version will give Bluestacks the lead again.
