BlackBerry PlayBook

Research in Motion has announced it will launch the BlackBerry PlayBook in 16 additional countries over the next 30 days. The tablet is currently only available in the US and Canada.

New regions will include the UK, Spain, France, Germany, and Italy, India, Hong Kong, Australia, and Mexico, among other places.

The PlayBook features a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and a 1 GHz TI OMAP dual core processor. It’s one of the fastest 7 inch tablets around and it supports Adobe Flash.

RIM also plans to add support for Google Android apps to help make up for the small number of native apps available for the BlackBerry Tablet operating system. But so far the PlayBook has been overshadowed by the Apple iPad and a growing number of Android tablets. Perhaps the international rollout will help the PlayBook find more success.
