Looking for a place to check out the Dell Streak 5 inch Android tablet in person? Starting October 24th you’ll be able to find one at Best Buy stores around the US.
The Dell Streak is a bit of a cross between a tablet and a phone. With a 5 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display it’s not that much bigger than some smartphones like the Droid X or HTC Evo 4G. Like those devices it makes phone calls. But it’s kind of big to hold up to your ear and in some ways the Streak is just the smallest member of a family of tablets expected from Dell in the near future. Larger models will feature 7 and 10 inch displays.
The US version fo the Dell Streak currently runs Google Android 1.6, although an update to Android 2.2 is expected soon. It has a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5MP rear-facing camera and a VGA front-facing camera, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, 256MB of RAM, GPS, an accelerometer, and ambient light sensor.
Best Buy is expected to offer the Streak for $299.99 when you sign up for a 2 year service contract with AT&T. That’s the same price Dell currently charges for the Streak.
