BenQ is the latest PC maker to throw its hat in the Android tablet ring. While the company’s computers don’t often make it to the US, you can pick them up in Taiwan, China, and sometimes other locales. According to PC World, BenQ will launch an Android tablet in China and Taiwan in early 2011.
The BenQ R100 tablet will have a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel touchscreen display and an 833MHz ARM-based processor from Samsung. It will reportedly have 8GB of storage, an SD card slot for expansion, and mini USB and HDMI ports, as well as 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth.
BenQ is hoping to position the tablet as a souped-up eReader by working out content deals to make books, magazines, and newspapers available.

I’m really loving these types of announcements. I wonder if they will make it purple as to distinguish it from the plethora of competing slates. I think we’re still waiting on the McDonalds tablet and the WalMart tablet. Perhaps you can order with the McDonalds tablet and save 10% of your order. Perhaps in the near future we won’t even have to line-up anymore. If every business could release their own tablet, I think we could certainly shift towards a computer operated society and do away with customer service via human contact. You gotta love this fantastic tablet invasion. I’m still holding out for that orange Home Depot tablet which is likely just around the corner.
