The final piece falls into the puzzle as AT&T becomes the fourth major US wireless carrier to announce plans to offer the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 inch Android tablet.

AT&T will begin selling the Tab on November 21st. The company is offering Pay-As-You-Go data plans, starting at $14.99 per month for 250GB of data or $25 per month for 2GB. The tablet will run a whopping $649.99 since you don’t get the kind of subsidy that usually comes along with a service contract.

US Cellular has also announced it will begin selling the Galaxy Tab on November 19th for $399.99 after rebate when you sign up for a contract, or $599 without a contract.

So to recap, here’s where (and when) you can get a Samsung Galaxy Tab in the US:

Already shipping:

  • T-Mobile: $399.99 with $24.99/month for 200MB or $39.99 for 5GB
  • Verizon: $599.99 without contract, monthly plans starting at $20 for 1GB
  • Sprint: $399.99 with $29.99/month for 2GB or $59.99 for 5GB

Coming soon:

  • AT&T: $649.99 without contract, $14.99 for 250MB or $25 for 2GB
  • US Cellular: $399 (with contract) with $14.99/month for 200MB, $54.99 for 5GB / $599 without contract

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, Google Android 2.2, and a 3G modem. It’s one of the few Android tablets that ships with full access to the Google Android Market. It also runs Samsung’s custom software including a tweaked user interface and several apps designed for the large display including email and calendar apps.

  1. The Verizon plan doesn’t seem too bad $599 without contact, and 1GB for $20. Then again I’m waiting to see the pricing of the NotionInk Adam. (Since my tablet will act as my eReader I’d rather have that Pixel Qi screen even if that means the tablet is $700 or $800.)

But in the end, if the Samsung Galaxy proves ot be a good deal I’ll look at it seriously. The only bad review I’ve seen was at Gizmodo. Their biggest issue was the CONCEPT of a 7″ tablet…that for them that was a deal breaker when other tiny issues were added on top…and who know for many people the in-between size might be an issue.

    1. I wouldn’t take Gizmodo’s review too seriously when it comes from a site that uses profanities to disparage their readers and censors their comments like communist China censors the internet.

  2. I’m liking these released/upcoming tablets. Maybe I’ll pick up one of these slate PCs with a contract since I never change carriers anyway. I’ll probably wait till January or February to buy a tablet computer though.
