The Asus ZenBook UX305 is an affordable portable notebook with a 13.3 inch display, an Intel Core M processor, and a starting price of $699 for a model with a Full HD display.

But Asus is offering a limited edition model with a higher-resolution 3200 x 1800 pixel display and a more powerful version of the Core M chip.

How limited? Only 200 of the Zenbook UX305 Crystal White Limited Edition models will be available to customers in the US. They go on sale at for $999 at the Asus Store this afternoon at 1:00PM Eastern.

The Limited Edition laptop will sell for $999 and in addition to the high-res display, it packs an Intel Core M-5Y71 processor and 512GB of solid state storage. Oh yeah, it also has a white case.

The cheaper (and less plentiful) model of the Zenbook UX305 uses a less Core M-5Y10 chip and features 256GB of storage.

Both models have 8GB of RAM, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, three USB 3.0 ports, micro HDMI, headset, and SDXC card ports. The laptops run Windows 8.1 software.

The Asus ZenBook UX305 weighs 2.5 pounds and measures about 0.5 inches thick.

Hopefully if the limited edition flash sale goes well Asus will decide to offer a larger quantity of UX305 laptops with similar specs in the future.

  1. I would assume no backlit keyboard, but…what about touchscreen? And should one assume it will have the same bad yellow color as every other 3200×1800 screen? And…what affect will the higher res screen and processor have on battery life?
