Asus is the latest company to unveil a WiFi router system that allows multiple routers to work together in order to provide a strong wireless signal throughout your home.

In fact, Asus isn’t just launching one router system that relies on this type of mesh networking. The company has two different models.

The Asus HiveSpot and HiveDot routers both look pretty much the same, and both work pretty much the same. Buy a single unit and you’ve got a router. Buy two or more and they work together to provide strong signal throughout a large space.

The key difference is that the HiveSpot is a tri-band, ac2133 router, while the HiveDot is a dual-band, AC1200 system. It’ll likely be faster than what you’ve got if you’re upgrading from 802.11n, but it won’t be as speedy as the HiveSpot.

Final pricing hasn’t been determined yet, but these types of multi-router systems tend to be on the expensive side, so it’s nice to know that there will at least be a cheaper option from Asus.
