Asus is preparing to launch a new 12.5 inch tablet with a detachable keyboard and Windows 10 software. The upcoming Asus Transformer Book T302 is a follow-up to last year’s T300 Chi. but instead of a Core M Broadwell processor, the new model will be available with low-power Skylake chip options.

Other new features include options for up to 512GB of solid state storage and an option for a backlit keyboard.

Asus hasn’t announced when the new 2-in-1 tablet will be available, but Tablet Monkeys says the Transformer Book T302 should be available in June or July… which suggests Asus will officially launch the notebook at the Computex trade show in June.

The tablet will be available with Core M3-6Y30 or Core M7-6Y75 processor options, 4GB or 8GB of RAM, and 1920 x 1080 pixel or 2560 x 1440 pixel display options.

Asus will offer models with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of SATA III M.2 solid state storage, and there will be options for illuminated or standard keyboards.

The Transformer Book T302 features support for 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1, has two USB 3.0 Type-C ports, an SD card slot and a headset jack. It also works with an active stylus for pressure-sensitive input.

There’s a 38Wh battery in the tablet, which Asus says should provide up to 8 hours of run time while web surfing or playing videos. There’s a second battery in the keyboard dock, which should extend the tablet’s battery life when the keyboard is connected.

The Asus Transformer Book T302 tablet alone measures 12.5″ x 7.5″ x 0.3″ and weighs about 1.7 pounds. The keyboard dock weighs 1.5 pounds and measures about 0.4″ thick, which means that the combined weight is about 3.2 pounds.
