The Asus Transformer Book T100 is an inexpensive 2-in-1 tablet that becomes a laptop when you attach a keyboard dock. The T100Â has a 10 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, and it usually sells for between $250 and $350.
Now it looks like Asus could have a premium model in the works. An unannounced device called the Asus T100 Chi showed up at the WiFi Alliance website this week.
Update: It also hit the FCC this week.
About the only thing we know for certain about the T100 Chi is that it’s made by Asus, feature dual-band 802.11n WiFi, and runs Windows 8 software.
But earlier this year Asus introduced the Transformer Book T300 Chi. That’s a 2-in-1 device with a 12.5 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS display and an Intel Core M Broadwell processor. While it has a bigger screen and a faster processor than the Transformer Book T100, the T300 Chi is also thinner, measuring just 0.56 inches thick in laptop mode and 0.29 inches thick when used as a tablet.
It’s likely that the upcoming Asus Transformer Book T100 Chi will be a 10 inch Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard. What we don’t yet know is if it’ll have a high-resolution display or Core M Broadwell processor like the T300 Chi or a Bay Trail CPU and a 1366 x 768 pixel display like the original T100.
We also don’t know the price or launch date yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear more about the Transformer Book T100 Chi at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

This premium treatment needs to be focused on the T200.
I’d jump at the chance to buy a T200 with a Core M CPU, 4-8gb ram, and a 1080 res screen.

things to change at the t100:
– more RAM
– more Storage
– backside of the case needs a different material/texture something alike to the area around the keyboard would be nice
– more distance between micro- hdmi/usb ports
– there are rubber-points on the bottom side of the keyboard to prevent sliding over the desk… but they don’t work if the T100 is opened (what idiot designs stuff this way?)
everything else is quite ok imho, some people miss an UMTS-modem, but that’s nothin i’d need. Second USB-Port would be a huge bonus, but then again it’s still kind of a tablet, so i don’t really expect that.
They really need to make material and glass more durable. I got one last year and the 2nd week (actually it was Christmas Day) I dropped it. The screen shattered everywhere, there is crack all along the left side vertically, and all away on the bottom. My usb on keyboard also dented. The touchscreen doesn’t work on left side. I ended up getting a used dell venue 11 pro on ebay a few months later. Much faster, I can’t stand the screen on the asus anymore, it is so dim and pale. Right now I have the asus hooked upto monitor and keyboard/mouse to be a little desktop computer. I use the dell as my primary now.
So please Asus! Make your products more durable!
Had the t100 for a year now. Drop it constantly. Never even scratched. And I totally disagree about the screen. It’s very bright, even in sunlight. I think you got a defective model.

Yes, you can have all these upgrades, but the price will have to up too, and at $4-500 the device won’t be too interesting anymore.

The changes i talked about are mostly design-changes. Only exceptions: RAM/storage
More storage seems to be the lesser problem of both, but it’s not about price but about supplies. There are not that many producers of emmc-storage that build 128GB-modules. (Samsung beeing the only one that i know of)
So if you want to go that way with a single module, you’re out of luck. You could either build something crappy with multiple modules or you could use a different interface (mSATA?)
So 128GB mSATA is currently 1000€.
