t91-videoIt looks like Asus could be ready to release the Eee PC T91 tablet-style netbook soon. When I saw the mini-tablet at CES a few weeks ago, Asus was showing a prototype with a touchscreen that was only semi-functional at best. But Johannes at Eee PC.de got a chance to play with a demo unit at a press event in Germany recently, and it looks lik the touchscreen works pretty well.

You can check out a video of the touchscreen in action after the break. It’s not quite as exciting as the promotional video Asus is showing, but it’s nice to see the touchscreen working under real world conditions, even if it’s not doing anything more exciting than helping Johannes play a game of solitaire.

I was at Staples waiting for friends to buy some office supplies and I played with taht HP Touchsmart. Scrolled through some pictures, surfed the web to see the weather (6pm and the wind chill is -30C) and played 3-4 card games. Total time? Maybe 10mins.
    My shoulder? Sore.
With a mouse, id have moved my hand about 1 inch.

I know there are some uses that the touchscreen could be usefull for but use your netbook for about 30miins and see all the things that you can do with it and now image doing it with touchscreen. How is it better/faster?
From keyboard to touchpad is a small wrist/finger action. Going to the screen each time to touch for clicking, etc just doesnt make it efficient.

Its cool, its hip, its the in thing right now but will it replace your mouse/trackpad?
    No.
Can it be usefull as an add-on to the current setup? Of course.

It still feels like a solution in search of problem.
