There’s a good chance Asus is working on a 7 inch Android tablet that could be part of the Google Nexus line of devices. Google has been partnering with hardware companies for the past few years to offer Nexus devices including the Google Nexus One (from HTC) and Samsung Galaxy Nexus to show off the latest Android features.
Earlier this year Asus promised to launch a 7 inch Android tablet for $249, and for the last few months rumors have been making the rounds suggesting that this tablet has either been scrapped or modified so that Asus could produce an inexpensive Nexus tablet for Google.
Now the folks at Android Police have spotted a bit of extra evidence.

Someone has been running benchmark tests on a tablet described as the Google Asus Nexus 7. You can see some results online at the RightWare website.
The tablet reportedly has a 1280 x 768 pixel display (although this is probably actually a 1280 x 800 pixel screen, with a few pixels reserved for the system bar at the bottom of the screen.
It also reportedly has a 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and runs Google Android 4.1 — a previously unannounced version of Android.
Android 4.1 could be the upcoming “Jelly Bean” release of Google’s operating system which will follow Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Or it could just be a test build… or a hoax.
These sorts of benchmarks results can be falsified in a number of ways, but Android Police and some other web publishers say they’ve also started to see visits in their server logs from users running Android 4.1. Liliputing doesn’t seem to have had any Android 4.1 traffic in the last month, but we have had a few hits from folks running unusual builds such as Android 3.6.0 and Android 1.0.
Ive been posting everywher on this story but this finally what Android fans are waiting for, the first REAL Android tablet. Pure Google experience is the only way to do Android. Im a Nexus user for a reason!
Although i like the google experiance and therefore go for “enhanced google experiance” like CyanogenMod for years,
Asus was always very close to pure android and the Padfone in Phone-mode looks the closest to pure android any 4.0.x android besides the Galaxy nexus ever has.
