The Asus Lamborghini VX6 looks like a high performance, expensive gaming laptop. It features Lamborghini branding, a slick design with a somewhat automotive inspired design. But performance wise, I suspect the VX6 is going to be a bit of a mixed bag, thanks to its Intel Atom processor.
To be fair, Asus went all out and packed this 12 inch laptop with a 1.83GHz dual Core Atom D525 processor. That chip is usually reserved for desktops instead of laptops. And the laptop has NVIDIA ION 2 graphics. But I can’t help but think that you’d get better overall performance with an Intel CULV processor and a discrete graphics card.
Anyway, to round out the specs, the laptop supports up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, runs Windows 7, and has a 12.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. The Asus VX6 appears to be the Asus answer to Acer’s Ferrari-branded mini-laptop.
Asus is also introducing a larger Lamborghini netbook called the VX7. That model will have a 15.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, a Core i3, i5, or i7 processor, and support for up to 16GB of RAM.
There’s no word on pricing for either model, but I wouldn’t expect anything with the Lamborghini name in it to come cheap.
Update: It looks like the Asus Lamborghini VX6 should be available in August for about $699.
