Asus is taking a page out of Lenovo’s book with a series of new laptops that bend over backward to become tablets. A series of unannounced Asus devices showed up at the FCC website recently, and like the Lenovo Yoga series of products, these look like notebooks at first glance. But you can push the touchscreen displays back 360 degrees until they’re back-to-back with the keyboard, letting you hold the computers like tablets.
A 13 inch model called the Asus TP300L or Asus Q302L is in the works, as well as a 15 inch model called the Asus N542L or Q502L.
Detailed specs aren’t available, but the computers run Windows 8.1 software, feature touchscreen displays, and the 13 inch model has 3 USB ports, an SD card slot, HDMI jack, and audio port. Power and volume buttons are on the side of the machine, providing easy access in tablet mode.
The 15 inch model has the same basic features, but it also has a numeric keypad, thanks to the extra space afforded by the larger screen.
There’s no word on the price or launch date for either model.

Thank you liliputing…
After looking at the internal photos of the inside….
1) i believe the ram is soldered on…typical..*shakes fist*
2) of course no removable battery…
3) 2.5 drive? mmm…..that might be replaceable with Dual mSATA SSD to 2.5” SATA RAID controller as JBOD if u want more than 2 drives..I like dual booting this way…and to be honest as big as this machine is there should be plenty of space for an additional drive. the thinkpad yoga offers two btw….*smh*
4) Asus has NO digi pen.. 🙁
5) wifi card is replaceable..good – sometimes they are not…
The Asus in tablet mode judging by its looks is probably going to be between 3.5 and 4.5 lbs..Oh i am a strong man but to me the unit still looks really fat. I’ll need to see the hinges in action to see if they are up to Lenovo’s quality…
I won’t buy an Ms surface pro – can’t work on it, too limiting…skruu the cloud…
Lenovo thinkpad yoga – love the design and has all that i want BUT screen ghosting issues like (dell xps12)- waiting on them to fix that and take care of their customers before i ever jump in that boat..*sigh*.
Looks like my wait continues….
I really want to try a 15 inch penabled device. After I get back home I am definitely going to try out the sony flip 15 at the sony store.
The only problem is the battery life. I know most people don’t care for a 15 inch device anyhow but… I do.
And everyone has gotten rid of removable batteries!
Simply mindnumbing…no Ethernet on this and so many of the new models…..what about those of us who aren’t dumb enough to allow wifi into our homes?
But you are not smart enough to buy USB to NIC adapter?
Those adapters suck….and they don’t hold….why use an adapter when the unit should have Ethernet built in?
Look at the 14th picture, between the HDMI and DC jack!
I can’t see it well….but I hope you’re right.
I want Ethernet on a 13 Inch model…I hope they have it as well if this 15 incher does.

Can you see it now?
It’s the VivoBook TP300L that doesn’t appear to have it…
