The Asus Eee Slate EP121 s a Windows tablet with a 12.1 inch display, an Intel Core i5 processor, a capacitive touchscreen, and an active digitizer for stylus input. It offers more processing power than most of the tablets hitting the streets this year, but also carries a much higher price tag of around $1000 and up.

So it takes some guts to crack open the case and peek inside. But Tablet PC Review forum member JustDavid happened to have some guts lying around, so he figured what the heck?

He reports that it takes a bit of work to pry open the case — and to put it back together again since it’s difficult to keep pieces snapped together while you work your way around the case. The good news is that there are no screws holding the front and back together so it just takes the appropriate amount of pressure (but not too much) to open up the tablet.

The good news is that the computer appears to use standard laptop memory, which means it shouldn’t be that hard to upgrade or replace the RAM. Any other changes will probably be a bit tougher.
