The Asus Eee PC T91 is an 8.9 inch netbook with a touchscreen display on a swivel, allowing you to use the netbook in tablet mode. It comes with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, GMA 500 graphics, a 1024 x 600 touchscreen display, and a 802.11b/g/n WiFi module. But if you’re looking for a little more connectivity, you might want to add a 3G modem.

Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as snapping in a PCI Express card, but it is possible if you’re comfortable taking apart a netbook and going at the insides with a sodering iron.

Jkkmobile did exactly that, and he’s posted a video showing just how to go about installing a 3G modem. He says one of the tricky parts is actually opening up the laptop, since Asus didn’t include any access panels for accessing the storage or wireless modules on the base of the netbook. You can check out Jkkmobile’s video on upgrading the SSD in the Eee PC  T91 for instructions on how to remove the cover.

You can check out his 3G hacking video after the break.

  1. Why do these Assus Eee Pc always require a hack to get integrated 3G going?

I see announcements all the time describing Asus “GO” models that include 3G, but have never found one for sale?

    I guess that’s why I don’t own an Eee PC :-/
