Asus appears to be sending out mixed messages about the US launch of the Eee PC S101 luxury netbook. According to the product portal for the S101, it’s due out in the US today. Now Engadget reports that the computer will be available in the US on November 1st for $699.

That’s all well and good. But blogger Mike Cane says he saw one at J&R in New York last weekend! Now, J&R does have a habit of stocking new computers before they’re widely available in other US stores. That’s where I picked up my first Eee PC 701 on November 1st last year. But I don’t know about you, but I kind of think that if the netbook is available in any store in the US, that means it’s been launched. Maybe that’s just me though.
