1002ha-unboxedYou’ve seen the pictures, you’ve seen the reviews. Now it’s time to see the Asus Eee PC 1002HA get unboxed. YouTube user Zeavott has posted a video showing an Eee PC 1002HA netbook emerging from what appears to be a very nice looking case.

Unlike previous Eee PC cases, the 1002HA box is sheer black, and most of the components are shielded by trendy black pieces of foam or cardboard. The computer itself sits inside a little zippered case, although you’ll need to install the battery which is hiding in a separate component before turning the machine on.

It’s worth noting that in his excitement, Zeavott gets a few things wrong in this video. For example, he says the Asus Eee PC S101 has a 4-cell battery. But like the 1002HA, the S101 has a thin 2-cell battery. (Update: It looks like the S101 does have a 4 cell battery. My bad).

You can check out the video after the break.

  1. Oh yeah, saw that coin test and I’m glad the 1000HA is no where as thin as the s101. I felt threatened by that device since it’s almost like my s101 right down to the box…!!

  2. He’s not wrong, the S101 does come with a 4-cell battery (in addition to a 2-cell? I see laptopmag reviewed one with a 2-cell). Mine does and I get very good battery life (5+ hours).
Checking with batterymon right now I get design capacity: 41068 mWh (5133 mAh).

    1. Are you sure it’s 4 cells though? I was under the impression that it
was a special 2 cell battery with higher capacity than many 3 or 4
      cell batteries.

      1. Oh really? That’s something I haven’t heard of. The reviews I’ve seen in the US and here in Japan (except Laptopmag) have all reported a 4-cell battery.

Any way I can find out if it’s a 2-cell battery through battery info?

        1. Hmm, I checked the specs on the Asus website, and the battery is
described as a 2S2P battery, which I believe means it does have 4
cells total. I’ll correct the post. Thanks for giving me a hard time
          about this! 🙂
