A few days after launching the Eee Pad Transformer in Taiwan, Asus is launching its first 10 inch Android 3.0 tablet in the UK today. The Eee Pad Transformer will have a starting price of about £379 in the UK, which is a little over $600 US — although the tablet is expected to be cheaper in the US.

That’s the price for a standalone tablet with 16GB of storage. there’s also an optional keyboard which bumps up the price to  £429, or about $688. What makes the Eee Pad Transformer special is that the keyboard isn’t your typical Bluetooth or USB accessory. It’s designed to dock firmly with the tablet so you can use the device as a laptop. The keyboard also has a separate battery, allowing you to get up to 16 hours of battery life. The tablet alone is supposed to last for up to 9.5 hours on a charge.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer features a 10.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel IPS capacitive touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass. It has a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, weighs about 1.5 pounds and measures about half an inch thick.

The Eee Pad Transformer will be available in the UK starting April 6th.

  1. Does that mean I can rush into Curry’s or PC World tomorrow and buy one?

  2. I pre-ordered on Amazon.co.uk and it says it’ll only ship on the 18th!!
