While the folks at Asus USA still haven’t made any announcements about the future of the Eee PC 1000HE and other older models, over in Europe, they’re dropping like flies. Asus officials in France have said that the company will be focusing on the Eee PC 1008HA, 1005HA, and other new models soon, while phasing out popular older Eee PC models like the Eee PC 1000HE. And while Asus in the UK has said it will keep the 1000HE alive through mid summer, all bets appear to be off after that.
Now it looks like Asus Germany is the latest division to begin consolidating its lineup. At a press event in Germany today, Asus reps said that the company will be focusing on the Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA going forwad. The company’s premium Eee PC S101 model will still be available in small quantities. And the Asus Eee PC T91 tablet style netbook will be released ina bout a month. But the Eee PC 1000HE and earlier 9 and 10 inch netbooks appear to be on their way out.
It’s worth noting that Asus is rumored to be working on a few new items that will be on display at Computex in June, so the company’s netbook product line might not stay small for very long.
