Asus is adding three new budget laptops to its line of notebooks with low-power (and low-cost) Intel Apollo Lake chips.

An anonymous tipster sent us links to three new product pages on the Asus website, or the Asus VivoBook E402NA, Asus E403NA, and Asus E502NA.

There’s no word on the prices or launch dates for these laptops, but the spec sheets paint a picture of a new line of affordable notebooks, with some models offering entry-level specs, others offering a few premium touches.

Asus E402NA

This laptop has the hallmarks of a budget device, but it does offer a few premium options such as a full HD display or a SATA III solid state drive. It’s not clear if all of those options will be available in all markets though.

Here’s a run-down of the spec sheet from the Asus website:

  • 1366 x 768 pixel or 1920 x 1080 pixel anti-glare display
  • Celeron N3350, Celeron N3450 or Pentium N4200 processor
  • Up to 8GB of RAM
  • 500GB or 1TB 5400 RPM hard drive options or a 128GB SATA III SSD

The laptop supports 802.1ac WiFi and features USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and USB 3.1 Type-C ports as well as Ethernet and HDMI jacks.

Asus describes the laptop as a “value notebook with a premium feel” and plans to offer models in white, blue, or red.

The Asus E402NA measures 13.3″ x 9.3″ x 0.9″ and weighs 3.6 pounds.

Asus E502NA

The spec sheet for this model is nearly identical to that for the E402NA, but Asus will offer a 256GB SSD option as well as the 128GB SSD and 500GB or 1TB hard drive options.

Unfortunately, the spec sheet doesn’t actually agree with the images and text on the “overview” page though, which describe this as a 15 inch laptop with a VGA port as well as HDMI.

Given the name, I suspect this really is a 15.6 inch notebook rather than a 14 inch model, so I’d take the dimensions, weight, and other specs with a grain of salt.

Asus will offer purple, black, and white models of the E502NA (I think).

Asus VivoBook E403NA

The simplest laptop of the bunch features eMMC flash storage and a low-resolution display.

According to Asus, the laptop will be available with the following options:

  • 1366 x 768 pixel or 1280 x 800 pixel display
  • Celeron N3350, Celeron N3450, or Pentium N4200 processor
  • Up to 4GB of DDR3L-1600 MHz RAM
  • 32GB, 64GB, or 128GB of eMMC storage

Other features include a 57 Whr battery for “up to 14 hours” of battery life, 802.11ac WiFI, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and a USB-C port, an HDMI port, an SD card reader, and a headset jack.

The VivoBook E403NA measures 13.4″ x 9.3″ x 0.7″ and weighs 3.3 pounds.
