Archos is adding 4 new handsets to its Android smartphone lineup. The Archos Titanium range of phones are inexpensive devices with dual-core processors, Android Jelly Bean software, and prices starting at about 100€, or less than $140 US.

That’s not bad for a carrier unlocked phone sold without a contract.

Unfortunately the phones themselves are nothing to write home about.

Archos Titanium

Archos will offer Titanium series phones with screen sizes ranging from 4 inches to 5.3 inches, but all models have the same MediaTek MT 6572 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and 5MP camera.

They also have microSD card slots, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, FM Radio, and HSDPA and HSUPA network support and run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software.

Screen resolutions and battery capacities vary by model:

  • Archos 40 Titanium – 4 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display and 1500mAh battery for 99.99€
  • Archos 45 Titanium – 4.5 inch, 854 x 480 pixel display and 1680mAh battery for 129.99€
  • Archos 50 Titanium – 5 inch, 960 x 540 pixel IPS display and 2100mAh battery for 149.99€
  • Archos 53 Titanium – 5.3 inch, 854 x 480 pixel display and 2500mAh battery for 159.99€

The fact that Archos only mentioned the IPS display on the 5 inch model suggests to me that viewing angles might be limited on the other models.

All models are dual-SIM phones which are Google certified devices with access to the Google Play Store.

There’s no word on whether any of these models will make it to North America.

  1. “512MB of RAM” Really? Because a full 1 GB of RAM is too expensive?

  2. Wow. I hope nobody buys those and they fail horribly so the company learns their lesson and stops making complete crap for a quick buck. No, I REALLY hope this hurts their business. What utter crap. 4 basically identical devices that all suck. What are they in the business for? To make phones? Or to make money? You’d think they’d know that making an awesome phone and pricing it low will get you a hell of a lot more money than pulling something like this.

    1. these aren’t so bad though this does cross-over into the used market..
