French tablet maker Archos offers a range of portable media players and Android tablets, often for relatively low prices. But the company has announced plans to release a tablet aimed at gaming, and if some benchmark results spotted by ArchosLounge are anything to go by, the new tablet could have a 1920 x 1200 pixel HD display.

GLBenchmark is a tool that lets you test the graphics capabilities of a mobile device. In order to compare results against other devices, GLBenchmark uploads results to an online database, and that’s where you can find a listing for an unannounced product called the Archos LUDO G10.

But it’s not the benchmark results that are interesting — it’s the system information section. That’s where we learn that the tablet  has a 1.5 GHz processor, Android 4.0.4 operating system, and a 1920 x 1008 pixel display. The Android navigation bar takes up some space at the bottom of the screen, so it’s likely that the screen is actually similar to the 1920 x 1200 pixel displays used in the Acer Iconia Tab A700 and Asus Transformer Pad Infinity.

This would be the first Archos tablet with a full HD display. It remains to be seen whether this is the expected gaming laptop, but it certainly looks like Archos is working to keep up with the top tier tablet makers.

One reply on “Archos device with full HD screen in the works, could be a gaming tablet”

  1. 1008 makes no sense whatsoever. It has to be 1080. Someone just typed the 0 and 8 in the wrong order.
