Over the past few years the Kodak name has gone from one that represents a pioneering film and photography company to a brand name that’s slapped on products built by other companies.
There are phones built by Bullitt Group, and soon there will be tablets built by Archos (PDF link).
Kodak has announced it’s working with the French device maker to launch Kodak-branded tablets in Europe.
There aren’t a lot of details yet, but Kodak tablets are expected to run Google’s Android operating system, feature “chic design with the latest technologies” and have 3G connectivity.
As a Kodak-branded product, you can expect the companies to emphasize camera features, and sure enough, Archos says the tablets will come preloaded with apps that “provide photo and video enthusiasts with creative options” and an 8MP rear camera.
It’s not exactly state of the art technology, but tablets aren’t generally known for their high quality cameras, so it shouldn’t be too hard to make something that stands out at least a little bit.
Koda tablets are expected to show up in stores in Europe by this summer.
