Archos 70b gen8

Budget tablet maker Archos will launch an updated version of its 7 inch Archos 70 Gen8 tablet next month. What makes the new Archos 70b Internet Tablet special is that it will be the first member of the Gen8 family to ship with Android 3.2 Honeycomb.

The new model will feature a 1.2 GHz processor, a 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive touchscreen display, 512MB of RAM, and 8GB of storage or more. It will have HDMI output, support for HD video playback, and support for the full Android Market.

Archos says the 8GB model will sell for about $199 and should be available starting in January.

The new tablet will join the Archos 80 and Archos 101 Gen9 tablet at the top of the Archos food chain. Those tablets also ship with Android 3.2 and support for the Android Market. All older Archos tablets ship with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread or earlier and a third party app store with a much smaller selection of apps.
