Apple pushed the fourth beta for iOS 8.2 to app developers on Monday. With a bit of sleuthing, 9to5Mac discovered that the beta includes support for connecting to the upcoming Apple Watch via Bluetooth. Additionally, there will be a dedicated Apple Watch app for pairing the two devices.

According to 9to5Mac, there is a special panel in the Bluetooth settings section just below the list of connected devices. The section, called “Other Devices.” Within that section, Apple notes that users must open the Apple Watch app in order to pair it with an iPhone.

Back in September, A Blog to Watch noted that the official Apple Watch app would be used to download apps onto an iPhone, which will then install onto the paired watch. The app will also likely include controls for the Apple Watch’s settings.

Apple announced last September that the watch line will be available in early 2015 with a starting price of $349. There has been quite a bit of speculation around the exact launch date, but rumor has it that Apple will have the wearable computer available for sale in March.

It looks like iOS 8.2 will likely launch within that same time frame, along with the official Apple Watch app.

      1. Lol i didn’t read the article it seems. I quickly went to Apple.com and saw “Watch” on the top 😛

  2. So the Watch is not available probably until March. So why the 6 month early announcement, weird. Normally Apple don’t announce something until its somewhat near ready to be sold.

    2. I know what you mean. I was surprised myself. The only reason I can imagine is that Apple is hoping to create a lot of excitement leading up to the launch in order to generate massive interest in a new product, something Apple hasn’t had since 2010 with the iPad.
