AMD’s Fusion chips have made a little splash in the netbook and notebook markets this year, combining high(ish) performance graphics and low power processors onto a single chip to offer better-than-netbook performance at netbook-like prices. So far we’ve seen 4 different chips, the AMD C-30, C-50, E-240 and E-350. Now Macles reports that a new chip called the AMD C-60 could be on the way.

The C-60 appears to be similar to the AMD C-50 chip in most respects. It’s a low power 1 GHz dual core chip with a TDP of 9W and 1MB of L2 cache. But there are two key differences:

  • The AMD C-60 will have Radeon HD 6290 graphics instead of Radeon HS 6250.
  • The new chip will support Turbo Core technology.

Turbo Core allows you to increase performance of multi-core machines when running tasks that only use one processor core. Basically when one CPU core is idle, the other can be overclocked to run at a higher speed. In this case, it looks like the AMD C-60 can run at speeds up to 1.33 GHz. Because the other core is idle, the system can actually underclock that CPU core so that the power draw should remain pretty much the same.

Turbo Core will also overclock the graphics processor from 276 MHz to 400 MHz.

As far as I’m aware, AMD hasn’t yet made any announcement regarding the C-60 chip, but Macles has a very strong track record of breaking news about upcoming products before they’re officially unveiled.
