A year after introducing its first “Kids Edition” tablet, Amazon has a new model, and this time it costs $50 less.

The new Amazon Fire Kids Edition is a $100 tablet with a 7 inch display, a rugged bumper case, and a 2-year “worry-free” guarantee that Amazon will replace the tablet if it breaks.

The tablet also comes with a year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited service, which offers access to kid-friendly apps, movies, books, games, and other content.

Amazon’s new Fire Kids Edition tablet is basically just a $50 Fire tablet with a rugged case, a better warranty, and FreeTime Unlimited service. So you could save some money by just purchasing the cheaper tablet.

But if you do the math, you’re getting at least $61 worth of extras when you buy the Kids Edition model. The kind of case it comes with it normally sells for about $25, and a FreeTime Unlimited subscription would normally set you back at least $36 per year. And that’s not even counting the worry-free guarantee.

If you think there’s a decent chance your kid might break the tablet within 2 years, the Kids Edition seems like a no-brainer.

Like the $50 Fire tablet, the new Kids Edition model featurs a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel IPS display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of removable storage, front and rear cameras, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It’s available with pink or blue cases.
