Amazon is bringing its Fire TV digital media box to Europe, starting with the UK and Germany.

German customers will be able to snag one when it ships on September 25th for €99, but folks who are already Amazon prime subscribers will be able to get one for half that price.

The Amazon Fire TV will be available in the UK October 23rd for £79, or £49 for Prime subscribers.

The box is already available for pre-order in both countries.

The Fire TV hardware is the same no matter which side of the Atlantic you live on: It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet. It also comes with a wireless remote control with a microphone for voice searches.

It’s designed to stream online music and videos and let you play games with an optional wireless game controller.

But the European versions of the box will have access to content that’s not available in the US (and vice versa).

For example there’s no Hulu Plus in the UK or Germany, but customers in the UK can access Netflix, Spotify, and Sky News. German uses can access regional content such as Spiegel.TV, and tagesschau. And of course you can stream content from Amazon Prime Instant Video.
