Amazon is offering another reminder that you should probably never pay full price for an Echo, Fire, or Kindle device unless you need one in a hurry… because the company has a habit of offering significant discounts at least a few times per year.

Today’s deals aren’t quite as good as those offered during the Amazon Prime Day sale this summer. But they’re still pretty good: you can pick up a Fire tablet for as little as $40, a Kindle eReader for as little as $60, and an Amazon Echo for about half price.

Here are some of the deals Amazon is offering for a limited time:

Fire Tablets

Echo

Kindle

You can find more bargains in our daily deals section. Or check out Best Buy’s 50-hour weekend sale, with deep discounts on laptops, tablets, phones, displays, and a whole bunch of other products.

  1. Curious about Amazon Fire OS and tablet marketshare, so I turned up the following:

    https://www.androidpolice.com/2017/08/03/tablet-sales-decline-3-4-year-year-spite-increases-amazon-apple-huawei/

Shows Amazon up 51.7% (2nd qtr 2016 to 2nd qtr 2017) with a market share increase of 4.1% to 6.4%. From quickly scanning older stuff, Amazon, in the last few years, has made significant headway with their standalone (non-cell) tablets. I fully expect that we’re going to be seeing a few more deals and devices from them.

As a new Fire OS user (who has decided not to google-fy the OS), it’s interesting (psychologically) how certain aspects of the FireOS Tablet (and ecosystem) are slowly pulling me in. Ironically, the Yalp Store has helped tremendously with this.

    1. I feel the same way – picked up a Fire 8 on impulse during the Prime Day sale, and have been very pleasantly surprised and impressed by it. No real complaints about Fire OS so far – I’ve used Raccoon and a few other sources to find a handful of apps, and sometimes miss being able to pull up Google Docs, but for the most part haven’t even thought about Google Services for any other reasons. In terms of a web browsing and comic reading device – it is fast, responsive, has great battery life, and probably second only to the iPads in terms of available cases and accessories.

It’s not a “do-everything” tablet, but is great for a light media consumption device.

  2. The fire sale hasn’t been carried over to Europe. Not to mention we have much higher asking prices for these (tablets) in the first place. Maybe in Europe not cheap Amazon tablest are the best cheapest I options to begin with.
