Most parents will probably tell you that any tablet is a kid’s tablet… just try to keep little ones from playing with your iPad. But there are plenty of companies offering tablets designed specifically for kids… and now Amazon is entering the fray.

The company’s new Fire HD Kids Edition tablets are basically the same as the new Amazon Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7. But these models come with tough cases, a free 1-year subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited (which provides access to thousands of games, books, and videos), and perhaps most importantly, a 2-year worry-free warranty.

How worry free? Amazon says you can basically get your tablet replaced at any time, no questions asked.

In other words, the warranty doesn’t just cover “normal” wear and tear or hardware malfunctions. If your kid breaks the tablet by stepping on it, throwing it in the swimming pool, or dropping it off a trampoline, Amazon will replace it.

Access to FreeTime Unlimited means that kids can access thousand of age appropriate items without parents worrying about in-app purchases. There are also parental controls that let you decide what content your kids’ can use.

The tablets feature 1280 x 800 pixel displays, 1.5 GHz quad-core processors, and 8GB to 16GB of storage.

These tablets are a bit more expensive than the Fire HD 6 and Fire HD 7. But the warranty alone might be worth the difference.

Prices start at $149 for the Fire HD Kids Edition 6 inch tablet and $189 for the 7 inch model.
