amazepcCan’t stand the way the touchpad on your netbook stands out like a sore thumb? Not to worry. A shop in Hong Kong has released a unique netbook called the AmazePC CyberBook with an invisible touchpad. Basically, the touchpad looks almost exactly like the rest of the palm rest for the netbooks, so it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. It provides a slick visual effect, but I can’t say that this is a particularly useful feature.

In fact, one of the problems some users have reported with the Samsung NC10 mini-laptop is that the touchpad sits flush with the palm rest. So while you can easily see where the touchpad begins and ends by looking, it’s tougher to notice the edges when scrolling your finger over the touchpad. Some users have even devised hacks to make the NC10 touchpad more useable.

So it’s kind of beyond me why anyone would want an invisible touchpad. But other than this feature, the netbook looks like a pretty decent machine. it has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFI, a 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.3MP camera,  3 USB ports, a VGA output, and an SD card slot. It has a 3 cell battery and comes in black and white and you get a choice of Linux or Windows XP.

You can check out a video of the AmazePC from UMPC Fever after the break.

  1. Oh yeah. Great idea…if you plan on using a bluetooth mouse all the time.

  2. Pretty pink and you can’t even *see* the touchpad, let alone feel it.
I can think of one forum member that will be thrilled at this advancement. 😉
