The Alcatel OneTouch WATCH is a $150 smartwatch with a round face, a rather attractive design, and support for custom watch faces, smartphone notifications, and a handful of apps.
It’s expected to go on sale in March, when you’ll be able to buy the watch from Alcatel OneTouch’s new online store, which launches today as a place where you can buy unlocked smartphones and tablets for the US market.
I got a chance to spend a few minutes with the OneTouch watch recently, and while it doesn’t have all the features you’d get from an Android Wear smartwatch (there’s no third-party app store, for instance), it does have at least one thing going for it: Alcatel OneTouch says you should be able to get up to 5 days or battery life from this watch.
It has a touchscreen display and supports simple navigation gestures. You can scroll left or right to move through notifications, hit the 6 button at the bottom of the display to go back one screen, or navigate through apps and settings by swiping. There are a few apps including a weather and stopwatch apps, and you can choose from a few different watch faces including analog and digital faces.
The watch has a vibration motor for alerts, and while the screen turns off after a few seconds of inactivity, if you receive a notification the watch will light up when it detects you lifting your arm so you’ll be able to read the screen without pressing any buttons.
It has a 1.2 inch color display, a heart rate monitor and other sensors for tracking your physical activity.
Alcatel OneTouch will offer a few different models with options including resin or stainless steel wrist straps. All models should be able to pair with your iOS or Android phone over Bluetooth.
