Want to buy a new PC with Windows 10 pre-installed? HP and Dell will let you order one today and have it delivered as soon as July 29th — the same day Windows 10 launches.

Acer, meanwhile, has announced that its first Windows 10 computers go on sale on July 29th.

The first Windows 10 PCs from Acer will be 15.6 inch laptops in the Aspire E Series. In August we’ll start to see additional systems including portable notebooks, tablets, and convertibles.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 E 2-in-1 tablet goes on sale in August, as does the Acer Aspire R11 convertible.

What’s the difference between a 2-in-1 and a convertible? It probably depends on who you ask, but in this case the Switch 10 E is a 10 inch Windows tablet with a detachable keyboard dock, while the Aspire R11 is an 11.6 inch notbeook with a display that you can push back 360 degrees until it’s back-to-back with the keyboard. This lets you hold the computer like a tablet, but the keyboard is not detachable.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10E features an Intel Atom Z3735F Bay Trail processor, up to 2GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, a 30 Whr battery, and a 1280 x 800 pixel display. The tablet weighs 1.4 pounds. Use it with a keyboard dock and you’ve basically got a laptop that weighs 2.8 pounds.

Acer plans to sell the Aspire Switch 10 E for about $280 and up…. and already offers some Windows 8.1 models in that price range.

The Acer Aspire R11 features an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Celeron or Pentium Braswell processor and support for up to 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of hard drive storage.

Prices should start at $249… and in fact, you can already buy a Windows 8.1 model with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of flash storage for that price. Like most Windows 8.1 devices, it’s eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10… so you don’t have to wait for Acer to begin shipping models with the OS pre-installed if you don’t want to.

Other Acer systems that will ship with Windows 10 software in August include the Acer Aspire R13 convertible notebook and the Acer Aspire One Cloudbook with a starting price of $169.

  1. I like the colour configuration of these laptops and convertibles. But I’m holding out for the Asus T100HA.

  2. Have a laptop just a year old and windows 8 forced and update to it. I HAD TO REBUILD IT. lost everything on drive c. Ms did an update a day later same thing. Rebuild. Hours wasted. So i shut all that off. Windows 10. Sorry you can’t turn off updates. Is Microsoft going to fix my laptop if they break it?

    1. You sound like my Grandpa complaining about his computer issues.

By saying “had to rebuild it”, do you mean that you had to reinstall Windows? Or you paid someone to fix it, and thats the story they gave you?

      1. Yeah I was trying to figure out what rebuilding a laptop means…
