Acer is expected to launch its first Chromebook with a convertible design this year. Open the lid of the Acer C738T Chromebook and you’ve got a touchscreen laptop running Google’s Chrome operating system. Push the lid back 360 degrees and the notebook becomes a tablet.
While Acer hasn’t officially introduced the Acer C738T Chromebook yet, a picture and some details leaked in June. Now the Acer C738T Chromebook has passed through the FCC… so while we can’t say with 100 percent certainty that this is a convertible Chromebook, it does certainly seem to be a real product.
If earlier reports are true, the Acer C738T will feature and 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Celeron N3150 Braswell processor, 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, HDMI, SD card, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. It’s said to weigh about 3.1 pounds. The laptop supports 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth.
While it’ll likely be marketed as the Acer C738T Chromebook, the actual model number seems to be CB5-132T.
There are already a few other convertible Chromebooks on the market. The $229 Asus Chromebook Flip features a Rockchip RK3288 processor and 10.1 inch display, while the $436 Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Chromebook sports an 11.6 inch display and an Intel Celeron N2940 Bay Trail processor.
