acer veriton n260g

What do you get if you take an Acer AspireRevo nettop and stuff it with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor but leave out the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor? Apparently what you get is an Acer Veriton N260G.

The N260G has the same small size and diamond-shape as Acer’s previous nettop. While this nettop might have the Blu-Ray-friendly NVIDIA Ion platform, it does have Intel’s GN40 Express chipset , which should offer better graphics performance than the usual 945GSE chipset with GMA 950 graphics. Just don’t expect it to handle Blu-Ray video playback.

In other words, this PC isn’t really designed for playing games or watching HD video. Rather, it’s just a basic small form factor PC that you can use for web surfing, editing documents, and doing all sort of tasks that aren’t particularly CPU or GPU-intensive. You can also mount the Veriton N260G to the back of an LCD display with a VESA mount.

The nettop is shipping in Europe for the equivalent of about $300 US.
