Acer is updating its TimelineX line of thin and light laptops with three new models with screen sizes ranging from 13.3 inches to 15.6 inches. Noticeably absent from the new lineup? An 11.6 inch model.
When Acer launched the TimelineX series last year, the cheapest member of the family was the Acer Aspire Timeline 1830T with an 11.6 inch screen and a $599.99 price tag. Even then the laptop was sort of the red-headed stepchild though, as it was the only TimelineX laptop with an Ultra Low Voltage processor.
The newest TimelineX laptops feature second-generation Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors with Turbo Boost technology. Some models also feature NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M or 540M graphics.
The good news is that the new models are reasonably affordable with starting prices of $599.99. The Aspire TimelineX 3830T is also reasonably portable, measuring less than 1.15 inches thick and weighing 4.12 pounds. That’s still pretty chunky by netbook or “ultrabook” standards though.
Discontinued TimelineX 1830T-6478 11.6″ with Core i3, 3GB & 320GB and BT v3 can be snagged for 450 if you can find one. Better performance than AMD Fusion E-350 for non-gamers.
