Acer has released a new mini-desktop called the Revo 70. Like the company’s earlier nettops, the Revo 70 isn’t much larger than a DVD drive… although it doesn’t actually have one.
Instead this little computer has the guts of a reasonably decent ultraportable notebook packed into a slim case. The R70 measures 8.26″ x 8.26″ x 2.13″ and weighs just 2.2 pounds.
The Acer Revo 70 has a 1.65 GHz AMD E-450 dual core processor, Radeon HD 6320 graphics, 2GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and features 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Ethernet, HDMI output, a VGA port, 6 USB ports, an SD card slot, and audio jacks.
According to the Acer website, the Revo 70 has a list price of $329.99, but most of the retailers that have the computer in stock right now are charging closer to $380. Hopefully the prices will go down soon.

Without the Windows Tax, this might make quite a nice little Myth box. I wonder how much that would save, if Acer could be bothered? Probably about 10p given the licensing agreement they no doubt have with MS.
For comparisons the ZOTAC ZBOX AD04 [ZBOX-AD04-U] bare bones E-450 system costs about $262.99, but you’ll have to add your own HDD, RAM, and OS.
Hard drives especially can be pricey these days as another factor.
ya looks pretty . awesome 😀
You’re not going to be playing the latest 3D game on this machine. The E-450 processor isn’t designed as a powerhouse.Â
True but it can play older games and provide entry level gaming. Though you can get something significantly more powerful in desktop form at even $500 range.
My heart says pair that with a small monitor and wouldn’t it be a cute little sucker, but my brain keeps asking, what advantage would that have over an ultraportable laptop with the same guts? Maybe a slight price edge.
Looks interesting, i wonder how well they handle games.
