Acer’s newest Chromebook is a fanless 11.6 inch laptop with an optional touchscreen display, and a sturdy, MIL-STD 810G tested case with a spill-resistant keyboard.

The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 is designed for use in classrooms, but the $230 starting price could make it attractive for anyone looking for a durable Chrome OS laptop.

The notebook has an 11.6 inch display and comes in two models. The C731T has a touchscreen display, while the C731 does not.

Both versions have 4GB of RAM and Acer will offer models with 16GB or 32GB of eMMC storage. The Chromebook R11 features an Intel Celeron N3060 dual-core processor and Acer says the notebook should get up to 12 hours of battery life.

The notebook has a 1366 x 768 pixel IPS display and a 180 degree hinge that lets you fold the screen back flat. Other features of the notebook include 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card reader, and a headset jack.

It’s designed to withstand falls of up to 4 feet and Aer has put a rubber bumper around the keyboard and a “shield structure” around the corners to prevent damage. The keyboard can withstand a spill of 11 ounces of liquid.

The Acer Chromebook 11 N7 measures about 0.9 inches thick and weighs about 3 pounds. The laptop should be available for purchase this month.
